BEHIND ENEMY LINES
This new artist makes quite a musical entrance into the urban gospel music marketplace!
This year has seen quite a few great
new albums. For a newcomer, it could be an intimidating time to release
new music. But with the release of her debut project, Behind Enemy Lines, new urban gospel artist Adia makes a confident and well-executed entrance into the industry.
The 14-track album, produced by Fred “Blaze” Crawford, features several guest artists, including Jessica Reedy and Sean Simmonds. Sonically, Behind Enemy Lines blends uptempo urban cuts with heartfelt ballads to make a well-sequenced and balanced project.
For starters, Adia demonstrates that she’s
definitely got the chops to make hit music, from her intricate
background vocals, like those highlighted on “Torn Identity,” to the
passionate lead vocals heard on songs like “Favor Ain’t Fair.” But she
doesn’t stop there. The project’s hallmark is catchy hooks set to
simple, but well-penned lyrics and infectious beats. It’s clear on songs
like “In Yo Seat” and “Give It To Him,” among others album standouts,
like the creative “Giants,” the melodic, piano-driven “Unconditional,”
and “Right Back Home.”
Adia’s style is unapologetically urban, which may
not appeal to the more conservative gospel music fans. But for the
grandmamas who might balk at the beats, rest assured that the lyrics
still speak boldly about the same God of freedom, restoration and power.
If that message resonates with you, Behind Enemy Lines won’t disappoint.
Behind Enemy Lines is in stores on August 26, 2014, but you can take a listen to snippets below and pre-order it on iTunes or Amazon.com today.
