Trailer for Lifetime's Whitney Houston Movie Arrives

The TV movie led by model/actress Yaya DaCosta is going to premiere in January on the third anniversary of Whitney's passing


Lifetime debuts a trailer for the upcoming Whitney Houston movie. Premiered via BuzzFeed, it gives a sneak peek at her journey to stardom, her life during the peak of her career, her tumultuous relationship with Bobby Brown, and her struggle with addiction.

The late singer is portrayed by former "America's Next Top Model" contestant Yaya DaCosta ("Lee Daniels' The Butler"), while her vocal performances are sung by Deborah Cox. "Into the Storm" star Arlen Escarpeta plays Brown, and Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett serves behind the lens.

The TV movie revolves around Whitney's career and personal life including how she dealt with the overwhelming rewards and consequences of the fame and fortune. "I'm putting everything on the line, my career, everything!" she says in the trailer. It is set to premiere January 17, 2015 on the third anniversary of her untimely death.
