After initial speculations came out that Azealia Banks, Lady GaGa, Beyonce Knowles, and Rihanna were working on a collaboration entitled "Ratchet", a snippet
of the track may have just leaked out. In what seems to be this
generation's "Lady Marmalade", the four divas' rumored team-up is
somewhat duplicating the 2001 musical feat done by Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink.
Produced by frequent GaGa collaborator DJ White Shadow, the track opens
with sirens followed by a deep voice that booms "ratchet" that segues
into the hip-hop beat in the 24-second snippet. The short "Ratchet" audio file was posted on SoundCloud as a DJ White Shadow demo of the Lady GaGa track.
The leak follows a sequence of hints from the rumored collaborators on the "Ratchet" single. Banks had first broken news about hooking
up with the "Poker Face" singer. "I worked with Lady GaGa, but I worked
with Lady GaGa from afar. We worked via email and via Internet. We have
a song called 'Red Flame' and a song called 'Ratchet,' but I don't know
what she's doing with it. She's going to release it when she wants to
release it," she said.
GaGa then teased about another team-up with Beyonce after she told a fan via Twitter that there would be a sequel to "Telephone",
their first collaboration, then posted her ratchet earrings on her
Instagram back in November. Just before 2012 ended, R'n'B-pop diva
Beyonce also hinted about the possible collab as she posted on her
Instagram two photos of hooped earrings engraved with the word "ratchet".
